Soul Mate AU. Everyone Lives AU. Hobbits find a seed that represents themselves (Bilbo’s is an acorn) and when they fall in love they exchange seeds and plant them in a special part of their garden to create a strong bond between them.

(Thorin forgot his notes for next meeting, but thankfully Bilbo saw them when he went to get his own documents from their chambers.
Also he teases Thorin by slapping anything that he brings Thorin and is remotely flat against his chest, because he still finds it hilarious how he got handed the contract that got him into all this)
